One of my fondest memories of winter guard was when I taught St. Pats. The "B" guard wasn’t sure if we were even going to be able to go out that season and we got off to a late start only to win the E-Mass championship that year. Then moving up to class “A” and making top 10 in Dayton their 1st year! Thanks to all of those who helped. I do miss that great organization.

Like Peggy, I started with St. Pat's probably around 1968 or 69 and left for North Star in 1978 and marched there for 2 seasons. There are so many great memories but one that really sticks out was winning the CYO finals in 1976. I was the youngest one in the guard that year, only 14, but can remember the awesome feeling like it was yesterday. I miss those green boots too!!!Where are all the old uniforms? It would be a gas to get hold of one.....

As my younger sister - I too stated with St Pats at the early age of 6 in 1968! Stayed there until 1978 when I left to join NorthStar. Sure do miss those green boots!

This is where it all began for me. I started with SPS at the ripe age of 5 in 1974. What a great organization it was. I do miss the Shamrocks being around.

I was lucky enough to teach St Pats Colorguard and Drillteam back in 1979 and 1980. But they are truly one of the oldest guards from Massachusetts and very competitive throughout their history! Their members were very dedicated and stayed with that same unit for many years. They like their rivals St Anthonys and St Therese Everett were the last of those units, where everyone came from the same city, church and schools! They were always full of class and many traditions! Many of their members were sought after by Drum Corps like the 27th Lancers, Boston Crusaders and North Star, because of their talents and thirst for competition! They were also taught by the Great Jack Whalen, Susan Mulvanety(Rolley), Tom (Mot) Riley, Kristen O'Melia and a cast of others, before, during and after I was there. For many years they had 3 colorguards that constantly fed into eachother. No matter, what year or who was teaching, if St Pats was "on" that day, everyone else could go home! The audience and guard members both knew it! Some of those years around the time Kristen O. was a rifle, along with rest of those great rifles, they had a rifle book way ahead of it's time! I could have watched that "Donovan" girl spin all day!I am sure as the word spreads, you will hear from many Old Shamrocks!!!!
It was my pleasure!
Thanks
Steve Covitz
