I marched with Canandaigua Academy for the years that V. Monacelli was at the reins. Those were some really intense years. I learned a great deal about WGI, being part of an all girls guard, and being one of the few high school guards to compete at the Open level with the elite guards like Cavies, Erte', Blessed Sak, Guardsmen, Emerald Marquis etc and be in the top ten.
After graduation, I returned to be a flag tech that following year ('86). Fast forward to 1994 when I became the Director for the guard on a local level.
Sad, but the guard does not exist any longer. The internal support is just not there...both in kids and finances.
Aw, but the memories will live on forever in all of us who filled the ranks during those years.
