2009 Show

Beatrix Makes Their Move
Beatrix’ Drum & Bugle Corps’ Winterguard from the Netherlands will compete at WGI in 2009! Beatrix’ Winterguard has earned many national and European titles in the past and is now in for a new challenge: the 2009 WGI World Championships. Just one day after taking part in the Dutch national Championships organized by CGN, to be held on March 29th 2009, the group will be on its way to Dayton, OH.
Beatrix’ Winterguard 2009 will be performing their show entitled: “CHESS”
Chess traces its roots back to, for as far as experts know, ancient Eastern Persia. The oldest known version of the game was formed there and dates back to the sixth century. The modern Western variation of the mind sport dates back to the end of the fifteenth century in France, where the ‘Queen’ piece was added to the game. The nowadays well-known strategy game inspired the Beatrix’ Winterguard’s staff in the design of the new product for the upcoming season.
Chess is a classic game; the pieces are static and solid. Every type of chess piece has its own characteristics: an own silhouette, a typical movement path and unique way of ‘hitting’. The distinctive properties of the game and its pieces will, together with well chosen costumes and music, make for yet another spectacular winterguard program.
The group is working extremely hard at this moment, like every year, to make up for the time that was put into preparations for the Drum Corps Europe finals. In October the rehearsals started and the first weekend of January marked the start of the new competitive season, featuring the traditional dress rehearsal and the first 2009 CGN Contest.
