The CGHS is a long term, passionate project about the real beginnings of Colorguard and Winterguard groups, its' innovators, early competitions, real stories from real people from around the country that championed this art form. We are sponsored by RIFLEBEAR.com ...where we design unique colorguard & marching fanwear !! April, 2007 - It all began after attending WGI 2007 for the first time in over 20 years, Tony Jenners had a vision of creating a private website for himself and close friends devoted to everything colorguard & drum corps after seeing so many of his buds still active in the sport. It was shortly after sharing his idea he realized the vision was too special to keep private and began a design company for drum corps, guards and bands. Asking his friends Patrick Vicari and TJ Romano to join up with him and help create, produce and market Riflebear Designs. One of the first designs was a "what year did you march?" t-shirt promotion giving access to everyone to declare their marching history, an idea was born! Patrick continued in this vein and began designing a 'classics' collection which after months of diligent work, it was decided to change direction and go another route with our designs and focus on guards of the past.. It was from this point that we charted this new project. After many nights of brainstorming and discussing history and classics, Patrick`s concept of a ``Colorguard Historical Society`` along with Tony`s vast knowledge of history & website design lead us to the creation of a unique website... introducing it as... The Colorguard Historical Society.
A unique website and the first of its kind to compile and collect history, stories, individual photos and videos of the great guards that paved the way of this unique sport. A place for old-timers (aka:"Old School") and newbies (aka:"New School") to come together, share, talk and learn together. We began the group in Facebook to a wonderful response and provide this website as a way to further connect with our non-Facebook friends. We have taken the added route of setting up the Drum Corps Historical Society. Please remember these are long term projects and in time the history unfolds. This is a place of fun facts and maybe not so fun truths...... and is a project created from passion of this unique sport. One of the first ideas was to list the now defunct guards with utmost respect and honor! The "Guard Pages" are up and running so now it`s up to us to add our colorguard/winterguard history, music, photos( Use AOL Pictures, Photobucket or Flickr ) and free to embed 3rd party videos of guards. Enjoy our website and feel free to get involved in the NING network. Thanks Tony and Patrick Team Riflebear
